MediaTek’s 5nm process processor is coming and is expected to be released this winter

MediaTek previously released their flagship 5G mobile phone chip “Dimensity 1200”, which has a 22% increase in CPU performance compared to the previous generation, and is rushing to attack the 5G market. However, of course, MediaTek does not want to lag behind other rivals. It is reported from the market that MediaTek will first release a 5nm process processor, which is expected to debut in the fourth quarter of this year. MediaTek declined to comment.

This year’s smartphones will undoubtedly be aimed at the continuous outbreak of 5G. MediaTek Chief Executive Cai Lixing previously stated that global 5G mobile phone shipments this year are expected to exceed 500 million, of which about 60% are contributed by the mainland market.

At present, only TSMC and Samsung are the only fabs capable of producing 5nm, and TSMC’s production capacity is almost completely covered by Apple, and Samsung is almost the same. Samsung’s 5nm process this year includes the Exynos 2100 used in Samsung’s latest flagship model, the Exynos 1080 used in the Galaxy A series and Vivo, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 series. However, the order is still overwhelming, so it has to adjust its own phones. Chip production capacity. This shows how urgent the market demand for the 5nm process is.

According to MediaTek’s timetable, the MediaTek Dimensity 2000 series is expected to be launched in the first quarter of next year. It is the flagship chip of MediaTek’s annual 5G smartphone, with a 5-nanometer process. Therefore, Dimensity 2000 should be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. Previously, it was reported that Dimensity 2000 had already obtained pre-orders from mobile phone vendors such as OPPO, Vivo and Honor last year. Therefore, the first half of next year is expected to usher in a large-scale wave. upgrade.
